The Riders

Alan Francis – recently retired from The Hot Bread Shop and not so recently from South Wales Fire and Rescue. Age 62 in July. Alan has enjoyed social cycling for a few years with a local club, Velo Club Newport but this venture is a huge step up in class. Driven by his PE school report “Alan sets himself incredibly low standards and fails to live up to them”

Dale Thomas – also aged 62 in August. Dale retired recently from a career in the Software industry. His passion for ultra marathons (He has run the Marathon Des Sables and other crazy endurance runs) was cut short when he was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer in early 2020. After a tough year of treatment, he has finally seen the back of it and is keen to start training for JOGLE.
Support Team

Craig Thomas – Driver North Scotland legs Slightly too young to qualify for a place in POW but doing sterling work in the support team. A qualified masseur (so he tells us) we’re looking forward to his deep tissue massages after long climbs in the saddle

Scott Thomas. Driver Southern Scotland legs. Team POWs Youth Policy and due to ride in POW51! Our nutritional go to guy who has promised us high carb, low calorie, high protein, high flavour BBQs every night (I think that was right)

Mark Franny Francis Driver on Final Section Ex rugby player and confirmed teetotaler. Still gets lost driving the 5 miles to work, so Avonmouth to Lands End should be interesting

Billy Walker – Driver Eccles to Avonmouth England. Billy would love to have cycled with us but struggled to find an electric bike with a 970 mile range. Looking forward to reprising his former profession as a butler and has promised to wait on us hand and foot

Paul Francis – Looking forward to supporting us from the comfort of his warm soft bed. Paul has been invaluable in setting up and updating, facebook and the website…..he writes!
